In My Own Words

“I specialize in complex PTSD and chronic trauma — the invisible wounds like emotional neglect, invalidation, and abandonment that shape how you see yourself and relate to others. If years of therapy haven't moved the needle, it's because your trauma is stored in your body as much as your brain. I use Brainspotting and Play Therapy to access it at the neurological level, so you can finally move from survival mode to thriving.”

— Cindy Barnes, LPC-S, RPT-S, BSP, NCC

Who I Work With

I serve clients in Texas and Florida through virtual and in-person sessions. My focus is on people carrying the kind of pain that doesn't always have a name:

Adults With Complex Trauma

Adults carrying the invisible weight of emotional neglect, invalidation, abandonment — especially those who've tried therapy and still feel stuck.

High-Functioning Survivors

People who look fine on the outside but feel disconnected, exhausted, and stuck in survival mode. Ready to move from coping to actually living.

Teens (13–17)

Adolescents navigating big feelings, family transitions, or experiences that feel too heavy — using creative, age-appropriate approaches.

Children (ages 3+)

Young children whose behavior is telling you something deeper is going on. I help them express what words can't — through play.

Parents & Caregivers

Parents watching their child struggle and not knowing how to help. You don't have to figure this out alone.

The Kinds of People Who Find Me

These are real patterns — not just labels:

  • Adults who grew up in homes with abuse, neglect, or emotional unavailability — and are still carrying it
  • High-achieving professionals who feel chronically anxious, empty, or disconnected despite outward success
  • People who have tried therapy before and felt rushed, unheard, or treated like a checklist
  • Adults who struggle with trust, people-pleasing, fear of abandonment, or pushing others away
  • Survivors who feel stuck — even years later — and can't understand why they can't just 'move on'
  • Children whose behavior (acting out, shutting down, regression) signals something deeper
  • Teens struggling with identity, family stress, or the aftermath of difficult experiences
  • Parents who are worried about their child and don't know how to help

How I Work

I use a few different approaches depending on what you need — but they all share one thing in common: they go deeper than just talking.

Brain-Body Healing

For adults and teens carrying trauma that talk therapy hasn't reached. I use an approach that works with your brain and nervous system together to access and process what's been stuck.

Play-Based Therapy

For children who can't put their feelings into words yet. I use creative, expressive methods that help kids show what's going on inside — safely and at their own pace.

The Relationship

At the heart of everything is our connection. You set the pace. I follow your lead. You will never feel like a case file here. You will feel known.
